Your first Brazilian wax is nerve-wracking — but far less scary than you expect. Here's what to know.
Before You Book
Hair Length Requirements Hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch long (2 weeks of growth). Shorter and the wax can't grip; longer and it's more painful.
Time Your Appointment - **Avoid** 5 days before your period (skin is more sensitive) - **Best time:** Week after your period - **Never** during your period (hygiene + discomfort)
Prep Your Skin - Exfoliate gently 48 hours before - Don't shave between waxing sessions - Take 600mg ibuprofen 30 minutes before (reduces inflammation)
What to Expect
Arrival - We'll have you change privately - Clean towels provided - We wear gloves
The Service - Lie back on the table - We apply hard wax in small sections (face of a stamp size) - Each strip is pulled quickly - Total time: 20–30 minutes
Pain Level First timers typically rate it 5–7 out of 10. By the third session, most clients report 2–4 out of 10. Your body adapts.
During the Appointment
- Breathe slowly
- Tell us if something hurts worse than expected
- Hydration helps reduce sensitivity — drink water before
After
- Mild redness, some small bumps
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, pools for 24 hours
- No sex or intense workouts for 24 hours
- Wear loose cotton underwear
- Apply aloe gel the first evening
Ingrown Hair Prevention
- Exfoliate 2–3x weekly starting 48 hours after waxing
- Use chemical exfoliants (salicylic) gently, or a soft exfoliating mitt
- Avoid tight clothing for a day or two
When to Come Back
Every 4–6 weeks is typical. Consistent waxing means: - Finer hair over time - Less pain - Longer smoothness between sessions
Walk-ins welcome for first-timers. We'll answer every question and go at your pace.
